Tim Berresheim

Tim Berresheim (b.1975, Heinsberg, Germany) has been called a ‘pioneer of computer-based art’. The image-worlds at the heart of his practice combine digital and analogue methods, weaving together disparate references from art history, technology, science and nature in a process he has described as an ‘artistic contemporary archaeology.’ By toying with preconceived notions of actuality, Tim’s works give the otherwise senseless sheen of digital art an enhanced sense of anima – a life or soul.

Tim studied at the Hochschule der Bildende Künste in Braunschweig (Germany) and the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf (Germany). His works are present in the collections of MoMA, New York (USA), The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, Los Angeles (USA), Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (Germany), Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart, and Kunstmuseum Celle mit Sammlung Robert Simon (Germany). Tim currently lives and works in Aachen (Germany).

Select exhibitions include Stille Beugung Diffraction Pattern, Galerie Judith Andreae, Bonn, Germany (2025 – 26); IM MOMENT ANDERS, MEWO Kunsthalle, Memmingen, Germany (2025); Ort. Zeit. Kontinuum., Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum, Aachen, Germany (2025 – 26); Neue Alte Welt, NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, Germany (2024); Tim Berresheim + Rechonski: temporal spelunking, Belmacz, London, UK (2024); Der Cicerone und der Phönix, Galerie Elisabeth & Reinhard Hauff, Stuttgart, Germany (2023); La Grotta della Fenice – Una Passione Inconfessabile, Falko Alexander Gallery, Cologne, Germany (2023).
