Waiting With {Sonic Support}
Abbas Zahedi’s new architectural intervention and performative activation, Waiting With {Sonic Support}, will open co-currently with Frieze London (October 12-16).
produced on the occasion of his 2022 Frieze Artist Award, Waiting With {Sonic Support}, can be seen as a conflation of multiple sites: a bus stop – more generally, a public waiting area – a DIY bandstand, and a public support space. This new architectural work builds upon Abbas’ long-standing interest in borders, thresholds and how things can move within systems or networks. With a daily programme of live activations (daily open mics), Waiting With {Sonic Support} furthers the artist’s research into the potential of sound to hold and create space.
