KLET Contemporary presents Hanna Mattes: Flying River

“We made a random stop in a tiny border town in Nevada. The Branford Marsalis Quartet playing “Hope” made me pull over and take a few pictures by the side of the road. I had to pee, so I disappeared beside the car without much hesitation. You seemed genuinely startled by my spontaneity. Then again, we didn’t know each other that well, yet… A few minutes later, we realised we’d stopped at a machine-gun shooting range. We got back in the car and left a lot faster than we’d arrived.”

With Flying River, Hanna Mattes presents an immersive photo-installation comprised of new works –  the outcome of initiation with the Ozark forests of Arkansas. It is an attempt to make the language of the forest tangible – and to build bridges between ecological reality, collective memory, and the human need for closeness.

The exhibition will run until Sunday 20th September.
