A Space in a Place It Is Not – a 12-hour (Performative) Reflection on Artistic Research

On Friday 5th December, the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague presents the fourth edition in their 12th (Performative) Reflection on Artistic Research. Exploring the zones of absence that emerge when travelling between different fields, the conference asks what spaces remain hollow in interdisciplinary dialogues, and how artistic investigations can navigate these spaces. It brings into question the possible exchanges between art and other disciplines, and how the same idea might inhabit different areas of research in sometimes divergent ways.
The 12 hour reflection proposes an experimental format at the intersection between a conference, a performance marathon and a sculptural engagement with space, unfolding over the course of a full day. Gernot Wieland will contribute within Part I with a lecture performance entitled “Cimabue’s Way to Rome“. Accompanied by mythical figures and childhood heroes, there will be narrations about the Town Musicians of Bremen, psychoanalytical sessions, the history of poverty, and political events.Part I will take place between 12pm and 3:30 pm at AVU Veletržní, a new space run by the Academy.

The conference will be held in English and will be streamed live. Entrance is complimentary.
