Michela De Mattei’s virtual reality experience, Estée Lauder, Expanded/Extended, is currently being hosted on the MAXXI L’AQUILA’s online MAXXIVERSO platform. Designed to be accessed by Estée Lauder – an Indian mynah bird with whom the artist has been conversing online since 2015 – Michela’s digital world, or metaverse, opens up new perspectives on the artist’s relationship with the captive animal.
